About P3O The P3O® guidance - aligned to PRINCE2®, MSP®, and M_o_R® - brings together in one place a set of principles, processes and techniques to facilitate effective Portfolio, Programme and Project Management through enablement, challenge and support structures. The purpose of the Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O®) guidance is to provide universally applicable guidance that will enable individuals and organizations to successfully establish, develop and maintain appropriate business support structures. This will allow: Informed senior management decision making on strategic alignment, prioritization, risk management, optimization of resource etc to successfully deliver their business objectives (portfolio management), Identification and realization of business outcomes and benefits via programmes, and The successful delivery of project outputs that enable benefits within time, cost and quality restraints. Larger companies work under complex environments, with projects continuously competing for funds and resources, which are often not enough to withhold the portfolio. P3O® can help you collect strategic ways of deciding how to balance organisational change with business as usual, and Wired is here to help, both you as an individual and your organisation. Foundation Examination The purpose of the foundation qualification is to confirm you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the P3O® method to be able to work effectively with, or as a member of, a PMO working within an environment supporting P3O®​. The foundation qualification is also a pre-requisite for the practitioner qualification. Multiple choice format 75 questions per paper 5 questions to be trial and not counted in scores 35 marks required (out of 70 available) to pass - 50% Closed book. Practitioner Examination The purpose of the practitioner qualification is to confirm you have achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor P3O® in a scenario situation. Objective testing 4 questions of 20 marks each - 80 marks in total 150 minutes 50% pass mark - 40 out of 80 Open book - (only the P3O® Guide is allowed). Route to Certification Candidates must take the Foundation Exam before the Practitioner Exam, either on the same course or separately. If a candidate has previously passed the Foundation Exam, they qualify to sit the Practitioner Exam without needing to re-sit the Foundation. If a candidate sits the Foundation Exam only, and passes, they will receive a "Foundation Examination" certificate stating that they have passed. However, if a candidate sits both the Foundation and Practitioner Exam on the same course, and passes both, they will receive a "Practitioner Examination" certificate, but not a "Foundation Examination" one.
